Acupuncture - Addiction

Based on work in Hong Kong to treat the withdrawal symptoms of opium addiction, ear acupuncture for addiction was expanded and refined in the West during the 1970s due to the work of Dr. Michael Smith at New York City’s Lincoln Hospital. It has been found to help alleviate many serious symptoms of acute and post-acute withdrawal and facilitate detoxification. It can be used to treat addition to cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol, and any addictive behaviour in general. 3 treatments are required. Our Acupuncturist perform acupuncture for addictions.

Do I have to talk about what my addiction is?

No, the treatment will be just as helpful you even if you do not tell us about your specific addiction. We want to make sure you are comfortable so simply mention you are uncomfortable with discussing the addiction.

What should I expect during and after treatment?

A set of four to five very fine needles is inserted in each ear and left in place for approximately 45 minutes. During this time, the client typically feels very relaxed and enters a meditation-like state. Most clients fall asleep. Following treatment, clients often retain the relaxed feeling for several hours.

  • The client must remove ear rings for treatment.
  • The treatment is performed on a massage table
